If there is a school closing, late start, or early dismissal, please listen for the announcement for St. Peter Public Schools.  Our school will follow the same procedure for weather-related dismissals as the public school. If St. Peter Public School closes, we are closed.  If St. Peter Public School starts two hours late, we will start two hours late.  If St. Peter Public School dismisses early, we will dismiss early.  Our school WILL have separate announcements on KEYC, KSTP, WCCO, and KMSP-TV.

PET Meeting

Our next PET Meeting will be on Thursday, February 23.  Mrs. Hewitt will be doing a presentation on her trip to Australia.

Spelling Bee

The SPELS spelling bee lasted 16 rounds.  Alex Quist is the spelling bee champion.  He will compete in the Regional Spelling Bee on Feb. 16 at South Central College in North Mankato.  Bennet Madden was runner-up.  Congratulations!

Parent Transport

On February 21 the public school will have a late start.  SPELS will be starting at its usual time of 8:00 AM.  We ask parents to transport their child(ren) to school on that day.

This month we would like to encourage you and your children to stay active in this winter season.  When it is cooler outside, it is sometimes harder to get out and exercise.  However, exercise is still very important.  Exercise strengthens muscles and bones.  Regular exercise has also been shown to decrease the risk of illness and help children feel less stressed, sleep better, and be tired less frequently.  Exercise also helps a person maintain a healthy weight.

We encourage the children at school to be active during recess and their physical education classes.  We’d like to encourage you to be active with your children this winter.  Playing outside, shoveling snow, and walking are a few ways to be active outside. You also may consider taking advantage of the Community Center for staying active inside.  Be creative in ways to stay active.  Exercise can be fun for the whole family.

Kindergarten Round-up will be on Thursday, March 8, from 9:00 -11:30 a.m.  Parents are encouraged to attend with their child.  Attending Round-up does not obligate you to enroll your child at this time.
