St. Peter Evangelical Church is a member of the WELS synod.  The history of the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod is a collection of stories about God’s work in the hearts of those who have gone before us.

Settlers from Germany came to the United Sates to begin a new life.  Many had Lutheran roots.
Those who remained in Germany saw an opportunity to do mission work in the new world and this became our beginning.

Large numbers of them settled in Michigan, Minnesota and Wisconsin. The ensuing years brought both harmony and discord with other Lutheran Synods.  We are in fellowship with the ELS (Evangelical Lutheran Synod) and others throughout the world.

Since it’s beginning, the Wisconsin Synod has been deeply committed to the education of young people.  Our church has many strong bible-based educational  opportunities for children as well as for adults.   We  have  a pre-school and a K-8 elementary school.   We support  Minnesota Valley
Lutheran school near New Ulm for the high school years.  New Ulm also has Martin Lutheran College for pastoral and  education majors.

Our church also supports the many mission fields around the world.  We provide Hope Residence in Belle Plaine for adults with physical and mental disabilities. This home is the only home for many of the residents.  We support nursing care facilities as well as assisted livings and group homes.  Our newest adventure is the opening of Kingsway Residence in Belle Plaine.  An outstanding  retirement living facility for seniors.

We may be a small gathering of believers by the world’s standards, yet we share the commitment to be faithful to the Scripture and the Lutheran Confessions.  We remain together as brothers and sisters in Christ and to proclaim the wonders of God’s grace to all the world.
May God  bless your day!
